How we use AI in Specbook Orange
AI does the typing and you do the deciding. Here is what it handles today, and where we are taking it next.
Most of the time spent on a spec book is not design. It is data entry: copying a product's dimensions off a supplier page, retyping a price, writing the same client-friendly description for the fifth time. That is the work we are pointing AI at in Specbook Orange.
What it does today
- Fill a product from a URL. Paste a product page into the catalogue and the item fills itself: image, price, dimensions, finish, supplier. You check it and save.
- Import in bulk. Paste up to 20 product URLs at once, review the results in one list and add the ones you want.
- Fill in the gaps. On an existing product, one click fetches only the fields that are still empty. Nothing you typed is overwritten.
- Companies and contacts. Add a supplier from their website, or paste an email signature and get a contact record.
- Draft the words. Client-facing product descriptions, quote cover text, board narratives and invoice emails, drafted from the data already in the record and ready for you to edit.
- Ask for help in plain words. The help assistant answers questions about Specbook Orange from our own documentation.
Our rules for it
Two rules shape everything AI does in Specbook Orange. First, it never saves on its own. Every import lands in a form for you to review and every draft is a draft, so you stay the author of your spec book. Second, it works on your real data: your field set, your terms, your prices. Add a custom field to your catalogue and the importer learns to fill it.
Where it is going
The next assists follow the same shape: take a slow, repetitive step and make it a click. Reading supplier cut sheets and PDFs straight into the catalogue. Tagging and describing product images. Summarising a schedule or a board for a client update. Suggesting products for a room from what you have specified before. The aim is that the mechanical parts of a spec book take minutes, so your time goes into the decisions only you can make.
AI assists are included in every plan, and the free trial has them all. Start a trial and paste the first product page you can find: the catalogue entry that comes back is the best demonstration we have.
